About MIPAC TVET 2026

A national platform for digital learning innovation in TVET.

MIPAC TVET 2026 is CIAST's first digital teaching and learning innovation competition, open to every TVET instructor in Malaysia, whether they teach at a public skills institute, a polytechnic, a community college, a vocational college, or a private academy. Together they build and share practical digital teaching materials, AI-driven pedagogy, and creative learning experiences for the future of skills training in Malaysia.

The competition supports the national agenda for digital transformation in skills training and strengthens the Malaysian TVET ecosystem by building a stronger culture of innovation, creativity, and best-practice sharing among TVET instructors.

Why join MIPAC TVET

Your work doesn't stop at the awards ceremony.

Build something that outlives the competition, whether as a CIAST reference, a national showcase opportunity, an intellectual property pathway, or a teaching method other instructors can learn from.

Winners earn a medal, a certificate, and a cash prize
01

Your work earns real recognition

Winners in every category receive a medal, a certificate of appreciation, and a cash prize. The organiser may announce the cash prize amount, award categories, and additional forms of recognition from time to time.

Your work becomes a TVET reference
02

Your work becomes a TVET reference

Selected projects are considered for the CIAST PdP digital bank, the official reference library of teaching materials across the TVET ecosystem. Work that goes in gets shared with TVET institutions nationwide, included in the innovation repository, and may be published as documentation other instructors can use when preparing their own lessons.

03

Your work gets shown

Top and selected projects are considered for the MIPAC TVET Innovation Showcase, where standout work can be placed in front of the people shaping TVET in Malaysia. Selected projects may be presented at the institutional, national, or international level.

04

Your work earns commercial and IP recognition

Projects with potential are considered for intellectual property registration through avenues such as MyIPO, with CIAST handling the application on the participant's behalf. The same pathway opens the door to commercialisation, industry partnership, and wider adoption beyond the institution where the work began.

You become a trainer of trainers
05

You become a trainer of trainers

Standout work is considered for follow-up programs such as Training of Trainers, where the participant teaches the method behind the project to other TVET instructors. Your project stops being just yours and becomes the basis of how others teach.

You sharpen your AI and digital teaching practice
06

You sharpen your own AI and digital teaching practice

The act of building a MIPAC project is itself the value. Integrating AI into a real lesson, adapting modern pedagogy, working a digital tool into teaching practice, the competition pushes the participant to do the actual upskilling, not just talk about it.

Common Questions

Before you register.

Key points to check before registration. For everything else, the About page has the full list.

Who can join?

Any TVET instructor in Malaysia serving full-time at their training institution, public or private, permanent or contract, can enter. No age limit. The only exclusions are members of the secretariat, members of the judging panel, and anyone else directly involved in running the judging process.

What do I actually submit?

Register a Project under AI DigiTeach, Short Video Instructor, Future Training Space Ideation, or Immersive Digital Teaching Aid. Each Project focuses on a single skill activity or concept from the NOSS, and it can take the form of a digital module, teaching video, AI-assisted teaching method, or future training-space idea.

Is there an entry fee?

Entry is free for the 2026 inaugural edition. You register and submit your project online at no cost. Future editions may carry a fee, so this first year is the one to take part in without paying anything.

Can I enter with colleagues?

Yes. Each Project can be registered individually or as a team of one to three TVET instructors. The account holder manages the registration and adds the team members for that Project.

Can I use AI tools in my project?

Yes, and it is right at the heart of this competition. The whole point is creative AI in TVET teaching, so building with AI tools is welcomed.

Two conditions keep it fair. You declare which AI tools you used in your project, and your use of AI must be ethical, transparent, and responsible.

The work must be genuinely your own. Plagiarism and misuse of AI both lead to disqualification.

What happens to my project after the competition?

This is where your work outlives the competition. The strongest projects enter CIAST's national digital teaching bank, take the stage at the MIPAC TVET Innovation Showcase, and earn a permanent place in the public Archive, where the next wave of TVET instructors will find your work and build on it.

Projects with real potential can be put forward for intellectual-property registration through MyIPO. That lasting impact is the whole point, and the Why join section above shows what it looks like.

In return, entering grants CIAST the right to use, display, publish, adapt, and commercialise your project for TVET education and development. The full terms are on the About page.
